Week 13 - LDC - Teaching as Inquiry & DCL - Inquiry Led Learning

Notes from tonight....

Programming a robot!
Was quite difficult to do, but we did get our robot to start moving and then stop when it senses a black line. We got a bit lost after that! It was interesting and frustrating at the same time.

The Rise of the Robots - Martin Ford
Notes from video: Self-checkout isles have replaced humans doing the check out job. Robots are being developed to replaced low-wage/low-skilled jobs. Robots have been around for a while. Robots used a lot in manufacturing. Robots are becoming easier to train and can work alongside people. Some robots can now teach children! Virtual robots etc. Factory robots are essentially blind so programming needs to be really specific.

Robots taking jobs in the future - what are the implications for education?

We decided to focus on: if a teacher was a robot, what would be the impact on the student?
